Rape case: Minister promises to take action

By Our Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM JULY 18. The Government proposed to take stern action against the hospital staff responsible for the alleged rape of a 60-per-cent burn victim by an outsider at the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital, the Information and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, M. M. Hassan, told the Assembly today.

Replying to a submission by Mr. Benoy Viswam (CPI), the Minister said the accused in the case was in no way connected with the hospital and that services of such persons were solicited by relatives of patients and not by the hospital authorities.

The Minister said the Nursing Superintendent and the Head Nurse had been asked to tender explanation for the incident.
