By Our Staff Correspondent

PATNA July 18. Bihar's Animal Husbandry Minister, Ramashray Sahni, was today remanded to jail after he was awarded a life term by the First Fast Track Court, Samastipur, in a murder case dating back to 1982. The Chief Minister, Rabri Devi, accepted his resignation and forwarded the letter to the Governor, V. C. Pandey, for acceptance.

The Fast Track Court of Avinash Sharan Lal found 12 of the 16 accused including the Minister, of beating Hawaldar Kameshwar Chaudhary to death in Bhangrupur village under Mufasil Police Station of Samastipur district on May 9, 1982, guilty and awarded life imprisonment to each one of them. The court acquitted two others for want of evidence against them, while two others had died in the course of the trial.
