The UAE needed just 38 overs to reach the target, led by skipper Khuram Khan's 60 not out effort. Opener Asim Saeed scored 41, which includes four boundaries. After electing to bat first, Nepal started briskly with opener Paresh Lohani scoring 52 runs that includes nine fours. Shakti Prasad Gauchan nearly added a second half-century, falling short at 47. But UAE bowlers Arshad Ali and Ahmed Nadeem helped silence the Nepalese batsmen, taking six wickets between them to leave Nepal all out with just 184. Man-of-the-match Ali took four of the six wickets in six overs. In its innings, Khan led the UAE reply, hitting his half-century off just 55 balls, with two fours and two sixes.
The Man-of-the-series trophy went to Malaysian team captain Suresh Navaratnam. The all-rounder took 11 wickets to go with his 60-run batting average. Finalists of the ACC Trophy will advance to the Asia Cup, a regional limited-overs championship featuring India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh all full members of the ICC. Brief scores: Nepal 184 (Paresh Lohani 52, Shakti Prasad Gauchan 47, Arshad Ali four for 24) lost to UAE 185 for four (Asim Saeed 34, Mohammad Atif 34, Khuram Khan 60 not out)
