SRINAGAR JULY 24. At least 24 persons, including four policemen, were injured in a blast in Anantnag town of South Kashmir, the route of the Amarnath yatra. Police sources told The Hindu that militants lobbed a grenade at a BSF vehicle near the general bus stand in Anantnag town at around 5 p.m. today. It missed the target and exploded on the road, causing injuries to 20 civilians and four policemen. Some of the critically injured were brought to Srinagar hospitals. The injured policemen had been deployed in the area for the yatra. Police said the Pahalgam-bound Amarnath yatris had passed through the same route an hour earlier. The attack was not targeted at the yatris, a senior official said. No militant outfit has claimed responsibility.
