Secretary for Kalam

NEW DELHI JULY 24. P. Madhavan Nair, Defence Production Secretary, has been appointed Secretary to the President, a post lying vacant for nearly two years, official sources said today.

A 1967 batch IAS officer, Mr. Nair's name was accepted by the President-elect, A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, who was understood to have turned down the names of other officials suggested by the Government.
