Letters to the Editor
Sir, Recently there was a report about Bhairon Singh Shekhawat organising and taking part in a yagna praying for rains. About 150 priests were enlisted to conduct the ceremony. It must have been an expensive affair. I think the citizens are entitled to know where the money came from. If from the Government, it will be a misuse, for a purely religious ceremony. As a nominee for the post of Vice-President, he is expected to have a secular outlook. As an individual, he may be free to follow any religious practice in the privacy of his home, but as an official of the Government, he should dissociate himself from religious ceremonies in public. C.V.K.Moorthy, Bellary, A.P.
