By J. Venkatesan

NEW DELHI JULY 26. The Supreme Court today admitted a special leave petition filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation challenging a Madras High Court judgment directing a special court in Chennai not to proceed with the trial against the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa and others in the "Rs. 28.29-crore loss SPIC disinvestment case."

A two-judge bench granted leave to the CBI to appeal against the High Court judgment dated August 30, 2000.
