The Speaker, T.N. Haokip, on the basis of a resolution passed by the House, announced that a show-cause notice would be served on Justice Surjamani and Justice B.B. Deb of the Imphal Bench of the Guwahati High Court for "contempt of House". Mr. Haokip said he was seeking the opinion of legal experts and was also in touch with the Lok Sabha Speaker, Manohar Joshi. The Manipur Government, in the meantime, restored the security deployment. This follows the directive of the Chief Justice of the High Court to the Governor, Ved Prakash Marwah.The State Government had withdrawn guards from the premises of Justice Surjamani and the High Court in the wake of the standoff following the order asking the Chief Minister, Okram Ibobi Singh, to appear before the High Court.
