It's like the Taliban, says Union Minister

By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD JULY. 30. The Minister of State for Commerce, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, has compared Bihar under Laloo Prasad Yadav to Afghanistan under the Taliban.

He said there were television sets but no power to run them, hospitals with no operation theatres and, above all, no roads worth the name in the State.

``Bihar is facing a very peculiar situation. In no other State will you find cars being hijacked for the marriage of the Chief Minister's daughter or the State Public Service Commission asking questions like `why is the BJP a communal party','' he said.

Talking to presspersons here today, Mr. Rudy said Bihar had not started even the first phase of the PM's Grameen Sadak Yojana since the RJD Government ``feared that it would bring credit to the Centre.''

The Union Minister, who belongs to Chapra constituency in Bihar, said he was planning to bring 50 farmers to Andhra Pradesh to study the progress in the State.

The Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, had offered to host them when he called on him this morning.

The Chief Minister's office said that Mr. Rudy offered further assistance for the establishment of Agri Economic Zones in Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam.
