'Osama in Pak.'

LONDON JULY 30. The Defence Minister, George Fernandes, has claimed that terrorist mastermind, Osama bin Laden, was still alive and in Pakistan.

In an interview to British Television Channel Four News last night, Mr. Fernandes said he had information from ``unimpeachable sources'' that Osama, the prime suspect in September 11 terror strikes in the U.S. ``is alive and living in Pakistan.'' PTI

B. Muralidhar Reddy reports from Islamabad:

Pakistan today denied Mr. Fernandes' claim that Osama was hiding in Pakistan and Pakistani intelligence officials were aware of it. The President's spokesman, Rashid Quereshi, said: "It is typical of Mr. Fernandes to talk through his hat. This is a typical example of Indian propaganda which is meant just to discredit Pakistan''.
