Celebrations in Bihar

By K. Balchand

PATNA JULY 30. There were spontaneous celebrations in the State as the Union Cabinet decided not to tamper with the earlier decision to create a new railway zone at Hajipur. For the first time, Bihar has been favoured in the establishment of a Central Government project in independent India.

The RJD president, Laloo Prasad Yadav, welcomed the decision pointing out that the Centre had always meted out step-motherly treatment to Bihar.

The LJP of Ram Vilas Paswan, took out a victory rally in Hajipur today. The BJP has lit up its office here and the Samata too took out a victory procession.

Mr. Paswan criticised Mr. Kumar at today's rally accusing him of not taking any action for five years after he (Mr. Paswan) had conceived the idea in 1996 and also obtained the Cabinet clearance.
