dated August 2, 1952: Farouk's plan for future

Ex-King Farouk of Egypt in a statement to newsmen made a plea to be allowed to live with his family "the only kingdom that is left to me — a quiet normal life. I am sorry. I cannot answer questions freely, I am not a king any more. But I have still two heavy responsibilities. The first is to the Italian Government which is being very kind to me and while I am a guest in Italy I would like to be careful to avoid saying anything that could embarrass them. Also though I am not a king, the King of Egypt is here with me.''
