Two policemen killed in Jammu

By Luv Puri

Rajiv Nagar (Jammu) Aug. 1. In what is believed to be a terrorist act perpetrated by the same group that massacred twenty-nine persons on July 13 here, two policemen were killed today. The Inspector-General of Police, Jammu Range, P. L. Gupta, said that around 3.25 p.m., on the basis of specific information, an operation was launched to track down the terrorists hiding in the Reka hills near here.

While the operation was on, the terrorists surfaced from the maize fields and fired indiscriminately, killing the policemen. They escaped after the attack. The killed have been identified as constable Rajinder Kumar and constable J. S. Sahni.

Mr. Gupta said that the reports suggested that two terrorists were involved in the attack and that they belonged to the same group which killed twenty-nine people here in July.
