Letters to the Editor
Sir, This is in regard to the unwise choice of Bhairon Singh Shekhawat as the NDA's (nay, BJP's) nominee for the post of Vice-President, without even caring to arrive at a consensus with the Opposition parties, as has been the practice hitherto. It is surprising that the allies of the NDA, meekly accepted the nomination of a hardcore Hindutva man, made in a unilateral and authoritarian manner by the BJP. Even Chandrababu Naidu, who now and then professes himself to be a secularist, failed to raise any objection to this unabashed authoritarian selection. R. Ramasubramanian, Vadavalli, T.N.
