Shivani case: IG contacts lawyer

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI AUG. 4. The prime accused in the Shivani murder case, R.K. Sharma, Inspector-General (Prisons), Haryana, who went missing from his Panchkula residence on Friday after the arrest of Pradeep, has apparently contacted a senior lawyer here to apply for anticipatory bail.

Sources said Sharma contacted the lawyer through another person to make arrangements for his anticipatory bail application, which might be filed on Monday. The accused might also surrender in a court in Haryana or Uttar Pradesh.

The Crime Branch police personnel in Chandigarh visited Sharma's official residence twice today. They recovered diaries and some documents of Sharma. The police also asked Sharma's daughter about his whereabouts, but returned empty-handed. Those arrested — Sri Bhagwan Sharma and Pradeep — are being used to identify the STD booth from where calls were made to the main accused and others.
