Hyundai July sales up

NEW DELHI AUG. 5. Hyundai Motor India announced sales of 9,171 units in July backed by a strong rise in sales of its flagship brand Santro.

Overall sales increased by 49.2 per cent over the same month in 2001 sales of 6,146 units. Sales grew marginally month-on-month over June 2002 sales of 9,157 units.

Sales of Santro grew by 52.05 per cent over July 2001 sales of 5,041 units and 2.9 per cent over June 2002 sales of 7,449 units. Exports were up at 352 units against July 2001 sales of 30 units. Commenting on the sales, B. G. Lee, Executive Director, Marketing and Sales, said, "Santro Zip Plus has received an overwhelming response and sales have steadily risen since its launch in March this year. We have cranked up production by extending our shifts by an hour to meet the sharp increase in demand". The company recently announced an extension of its production shifts at the plant by an hour each to meet the increased demand for the Santro, according to a release.
