According to the Commission sources, the team led by two Deputy Election Commissioners, A.N. Jha and S. Mendiratta, is expected to submit its report in two or three days. The team during its four-day visit had met State Government officials and collected information regarding the State's preparedness to hold the elections, the progress of the work in the preparation of electoral rolls and met senior police officers to review the law and order situation. Besides visiting some of the relief camps in the State, the team also heard the views of the representatives of major political parties on holding early polls. While the BJP had submitted a memorandum to the CEC for holding early elections, the Congress and other major Opposition parties had urged the Commission not to hold elections till complete normality was restored and all those affected in the riot-torn State were rehabilitated. The Commission is expected to take a decision on holding polls after considering the team's report, sources added.
