Bhopal Aug. 6. In an incident of `sati', a 65-year-old woman sat on the funeral pyre of her husband today and died of burns, at a village in Madhya Pradesh's Panna district.

Police said Mallu Nai died at Tamoli Patna village after a prolonged illness.

On coming to know that his wife, Kuttu Bai, intended to commit `sati', two policemen from Saleha rushed to the area but were stoned by the villagers. Kuttu Bai's two grown-up sons did not attempt to prevent her from sitting on the pyre.
