DYFI to lay siege to investors' meet

By Our Staff Reporter

KOCHI AUG. 7. The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) has charted out a series of aggressive agitational steps, including laying siege to the proposed Global Investors Meet and opposing the proposed power tariff hike.

Elaborating the agitational programmes, the DFYI State secretary, T. Sasidharan, said the organisation would mobilise nearly 1 lakh

youth to prevent the meet, "which was aimed at privatising the public sector inits in the State.

The Government should come out with a clarification on whether the meet is aimed at mobilising foreign capital or to privatise the State public sector units, he said.

According to him, it has become clear that the Government move was aimed at privatising the PSUs and selling the State assets.

The organisation would observe August 13 as Black day and will take out marches to all the Kerala State Electricity Board section offices on that day against the proposed power tariff hike.

The DYFI will lay siege to the free movement of those involved in the Kochi sex racket case if the State Government attempted to cover up the case and protect the culprits, he said. Mr. Sasidharan accused the Chief Minister of protecting the culprits involved in the case.

According to him, the Government was refusing to act in the case and was even trying to sabotage the investigation as two Ministers of the State Cabinet, MPs, a MLA from Thrissur district and several functionaries of the Congress were involved.

Women activists of the DYFI will seize the blue film cassettes that are being circulated by various video shops and will expose the theatre owners and staff who are aiding the screening of pornographic movies in the State, he said.
