Hundred new students allotted for the college would be admitted shortly. The college Dean, A. Swaminathan, today said the MCI had conveyed its decision to the State Health Secretary and admission would begin next week. A two-member MCI team comprising Desai from Ahmedabad and Medha Rao from Bangalore visited the college during last week of June and inspected the infrastructure available in the institution. Dr. Swaminathan said the selection committee would release the list of students to be admitted after a meeting with the Director of Medical Education and the State Health Secretary. The State Government had granted Rs. 2.4 crores to the college for purchase of equipment, furniture and employing teaching staff for the third phase. The strength of the teaching staff including those in the paramedical branch is 192.
