Jammu & Kashmir
By Our Staff Reporter
Most displaced Pandits have not taken part in the last Assembly elections and three Parliamentary elections held in the State. A similar pattern is likely to be repeated this time. Pandit organisations that threatened to boycott the elections include the Panun Kashmir, the All Kashmiri Pandit Solidarity Conference and the Panun Kashmir Movement. These organisations opine that the polls are a futile exercise as no political party has done anything for the rehabilitation of the displaced Pandits. Also, the elections are meaningless for them as the community has been out of touch with its constituencies for the last 12 years. Another complaint of the community is that some of its eligible voters are yet to be registered.
