Vaiko's Remand extended

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI Aug. 7. The Special Court for Prevention of Terrorism Act cases today extended till September 4 the remand of the MDMK general secretary, Vaiko, and eight others, arrested under the provisions of POTA for pro-LTTE speeches.

The special court allowed the Q Branch Police, which is investigating the cases, to search 12 premises of Mr. Vaiko and the other accused. The court also granted three days police custody of two of the detenus, Nagarajan and Madurai Ganesan.

Mr. Vaiko said he would continue to fight his case. ``This is the forum to fight the case,'' he told reporters after the special court conceded the prosecution demand for remand extension.
