With these wins, both Ramesh and Meenakshi achieved their goal of participation in the ninth round of the championship. England's Grandmaster Luke McShane maintained his slender lead of half a point over seven others, with 7.0 points. He drew today with the Indian GM P. Harikrishna. In the Rosolimov variation of Sicilian defence, McShane got a better space advantage but Harikrishna nullified it with a bishop sacrifice to reach a drawish position in the end game. Both Ramesh and Harikrishna are on the second spot with 6.5 points.
