`Unofficial' power cuts imposed

By Our Staff Reporter

CHENNAI Aug. 8 . An unofficial power cut has been imposed in several parts of the city, residents of Pallavaram were told by the TNEB at a discussion today.

A group of residents under the banner of the Federation of Civic Welfare Associations of Pallavaram met the officials with a complaint of regular blackouts in their area.

The officials informed the residents that in view of the general power shortage, a cut would be imposed for an hour each, in the morning, afternoon and evening.

Similar blackouts have been reported by residents of Hospital Road, West Saidapet, Porur and Tambaram.

A resident of Parsn Nagar, West Saidapet, said there was a three-hour power blackout at nights on most days.
