BJP poll panel reconstituted

NEW DELHI AUG. 9. The Bharatiya Janata Party has reconstituted its central election committee with its chief, M. Venkaiah Naidu, heading the 17-member panel that includes recently appointed office-bearers.

The Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, the Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, the Human Resource Development Minister, Murli Manohar Joshi, the Finance Minister, Jaswant Singh, the Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Pramod Mahajan, the I & B Minister, Sushma Swaraj, and the former BJP Chief, Kushabhau Thakre, are on the panel.

The newly elected general secretary, Arun Jaitley, would be the secretary of the committee while Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Anita Arya, former Chief Ministers Rajnath Singh, Keshubhai Patel and the Leader of the Opposition in Bihar, Sushil Kumar Modi, are the other members.

Mr. Naidu also constituted a new parliamentary board.

It includes Mr. Vajpayee, Mr. Advani, Dr. Joshi, Mr. Jaswant Singh, Mr. Rajnath Singh, Mr. Jaitley, Mr. Mahajan and Mrs. Swaraj.

The party announced a five-member central disciplinary action committee. It would be headed by Kailash Joshi and include Ram Kripal Sinha, Ram Kapse, Harish Chandra Srivastva and Bandaru Dattatreya as its members.
