Shot dead

SRINAGAR AUG. 10. Life came to a halt here this evening as militants opened fire on a police flying squad, killing a constable.

Police said some militants entered Hari Singh High Street from the Sara Bala area this evening and opened fire on the flying squad. One constable died on the spot. The security forces who have a large presence in the area fired in the air resulting in panic all over. The entire market closed with people taking shelter in nearby houses.
