It was noted that the offer was communicated via the recently-floated non-Government Kashmir Committee, headed by the former Union Law Minister, Ram Jethmalani. The CDB members Farooq Papa, Usmaan Raheem, Majid Tramboo, Raja Muzaffar and Shabir Choudhry concurred that if and only if Mr. Advani's offer was unconditional and sincere, then the JKLF was prepared in principle to accept it and in reciprocation put no conditions. The JKLF has reason to believe that U.S. efforts to facilitate a peace process in Kashmir might be showing signs of effective and helpful influence on all sides. The JKLF leaders will seek a consensus on this issue within the All-Party Hurriyat Conference and with other like-minded parties in Kashmir. The JKLF leaders propose that the appropriate response will be to form a team consisting of representatives along with Kashmiri intellectuals, lawyers and specialists with a profound understanding of the issue and ability to articulate the Kashmiri stand.
