Security guard killed

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM Aug. 11. In what is described by the police as a case of murder for gain, unidentified persons murdered a 65-year-old security guard of a private firm dealing in still cameras and film and the godown ransacked of goods worth Rs 1 lakh on Saturday night.

Police identified the deceased as Sadasivan Pillai who was working as a security guard at Sree Krishna distributors at Enchackkal junction in Fort police station limits.

According to sources, more than 100 automatic cameras, 3000 film cassettes, photographic printing paper, computers and a pick-up autorickshaw was stolen from the godown of the company. However, the police was yet to confirm the value and amount of the goods stolen.

The city police is reported to have "definite clues'' about the identity of the perpetrators of the crime. A manhunt has been launched to arrest the accused.

The Assistant Commissioner (Fort), Mr. Venugopal, who is heading the investigation, said that the crime could have occurred at around 11 p.m. on Friday night.
