Petrol, diesel to cost less

NEW DELHI AUG. 15 . For the first time after free pricing of motor fuels were introduced from June 1, the oil companies today announced a cut of up to 21 paise in the retail selling prices of petrol and diesel, reflecting a stable global crude situation. Petrol would cost Rs. 29 a litre in Delhi from midnight as against the prevailing rate of Rs. 29.18, while diesel prices have been reduced to Rs. 18.05 a litre from Rs. 18.23, a spokesperson of the Indian Oil Corporation said. In Chennai, petrol prices have been brought down to Rs. 31.44 a litre from Rs. 31.64 and the new price of diesel would be Rs. 19.86 as against the prevailing rate of Rs. 20.06.
