'Ban will go'

COLOMBO AUG. 15. A day after Sri Lanka and the LTTE agreed to begin formal talks next month in Thailand, the Cabinet spokesman, G.L. Peiris, said today that the Government would stick to its promise of lifting the four-year ban on the rebels but would not negotiate for an independent Tamil homeland. — PTI
