IAF copter crashes

New Delhi Aug. 16. A Cheetah helicopter of the Indian Air Force crashed near Leh in Jammu and Kashmir this morning, killing the pilot, Sqd. Ldr. Sanjay Bhardwaj, and the co-pilot, Flt. Lt. M. Trikha. An IAF spokesman said here the copter was coming back to the forward landing base at Thoise after a mission in Siachen sector. A preliminary report said, the crash was due to engine failure. A Court of Inquiry has been ordered into the accident, the first in the Siachen sector in the last six years.
