DMK to blame: Paneerselvam

By Our Staff Reporter

Coimbatore Aug. 17. The repair and maintenance works in the contour canal of the Parambikulam Aliyar Project (PAP) had not been done properly during the previous DMK regime, the PWD Minister, O. Paneerselvam, charged today.

Talking to reporters at the Aliyar dam near Pollachi after reviewing the irrigation projects, Mr. Paneerselvam said that nearly 220 cusecs of water was going waste by way of seepage in the canal.

Blaming the DMK regime for not repairing the canal properly, he said the irregularities would be taken to the notice of the Chief Minister and a probe would be carried out. ``Whoever was at fault would be made to face legal action.'' The Minister visited various dams and reservoirs in Dindigul, Erode and Coimbatore districts including Amaravathy, Thirumurthy and Aliyar dams and held discussions with officials.
