CM misleading people on drought: Sedam

By Our Staff Reporter

Bangalore Aug. 18. The President of the State unit of the BJP, Basavaraj Patil Sedam, has accused the Chief Minister, S.M. Krishna, of misleading the people by stating that the amount released for drought relief by the Centre was meagre. The statement was made to please his party chief, Sonia Gandhi.

In a press release here on Saturday, Mr. Sedam demanded a White Paper on the funds released by the State Government for tackling the drought. He said he could not understand why Mr. Krishna was contradicting the Health Minister, Kagodu Thimmappa, according to whom the Centre had released funds for drought relief measures.

Recalling that the State Government made the same mistake last year when it failed to make use of the foodgrains released for the food for work programme, he said then also the Chief Minister had tried to pass the buck to the Centre. When he realised his folly, he tried to put the blame on the officials.
