Just after presiding over the crucial meeting of the Union Cabinet on formulating the Government's response to the Election Commission's decision on deferring polls in Gujarat, the Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee headed straight for Mr. Advani's residence for the lunch. The lunch at the Advani household brought together the Vice-President-elect, Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, the Deputy Chairperson of the Rajya Sabha, Najma Heptullah, the Defence Minister, George Fernandes, the Finance Minister, Jaswant Singh and the BJP president, Venkaiah Naidu.
