The CPRF, RAF and armed police personnel were deployed in the town, Mr. Saha said, adding the situation in the area was tense but under control. Five KLO ultras, armed with AK-56 rifles, stormed into the CPI (M) office when a zonal committee meeting of the party was underway at around 7 p.m. yesterday. They fired indiscriminately, killing two persons on the spot and injuring several others. Normal life at Dhupguri in West Bengal, which witnessed the attack by the Kamtapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) ultras on CPI (M) members, was affected following a 48-hour bandh called by the party. The Jalpaiguri District Magistrate, Subrata Gupta, said the situation in the area was tense but under control and no untoward incident was reported from anywhere. Shops and business establishments remained closed and vehicles kept off the roads. Police was keeping ``strictest vigil'' along the Indo-Bhutan border to ensure that the culprits do not cross over to the Himalayan kingdom where the KLO and ULFA jointly run arms training camps, the police said.
