One killed in police firing

BARABANKI AUG. 18. One person was killed and several others injured when police opened fire on a mob which indulged in heavy brickbatting after laying siege to Asandra police station in the Barabanki district today.

About 700 villagers, who gathered in front of the station to protest against ``police inaction'' in nabbing a dreaded gang, turned violent after laying a siege to the police station. — PTI
