Shastri to represent players

Leeds Aug. 18. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been told by senior players that henceforth Ravi Shastri will represent them in the ongoing dialogue between the players and the BCCI in connection with the controversial `Players Terms', which they have to sign before taking part in the ICC Champions Trophy event to be held in Colombo from September 12. However, it's understood that BCCI is unlikely to meet Shastri.

The players have told the BCCI that since they would be busy preparing for the third Test, starting at Leeds from Thursday, they will be represented by Shastri.

The BCCI President Mr. Jagmohan Dalmiya in turn has asked the players whether they would sign the players terms for the Champions Trophy, Champions Trophy and the World Cup, or they would not sign at all.

According to sources, Mr. Jagmohan Dalmiya spoke to the players quite a few times on Sunday before being told that Shastri would represent them in the future.

Mr. Dalmiya was expecting positive signals from the senior players so that he could initiate talks with the ICC Chief Executive, Mr. Malcolm Speed about ICC's anti-ambush marketing regulations. Mr. Speed is to visit to India next week.
