Salman Khan receives underworld threat

Mumbai Aug.19. Contrary to the claims of the Mumbai police that extortion threats to the film industry had reduced considerably in recent times, Bollywood star, Salman Khan, today informed the police that he had received threats from the underworld and sought fresh arms licence from them for self-protection.Mr. Khan, dressed in black trousers and T-shirt, arrived at the police commissionerate at Crawford market and spent over an hour with the Police Commissioner, M.N. Singh, and other top officials.

One of the staff members of the actor had received a call from an underworld don who asked Mr. Salman to get in touch with him soon, Mr. Singh told PTI. However, he refused to disclose who the underworld don was.``Since Salman's firearms were confiscated by Rajasthan police following the High Court directive in the buck poaching case, he requested us to issue him a fresh licence following the threats,'' Mr. Singh added. Mr. Salman also informed the police chief that he had urged the High Court to return his firearms and the court had subsequently issued a directive on the issue. — PTI
