Cricket
The occasional bowling of Badrinath caused the not so occasional Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) collapse, as the visiting team, opting to bat at SPIC-YMCA, was dismissed for 215. Badrinath who had scalped three against Andhra CA in the earlier encounter, picked up six for 80 in 27 overs. The fact that captain Hrishikesh Shende's 39 was the highest score of the MCA innings tell its story. Utpal Chatterjee pulled his weight for the Bengal outfit, as Combined Districts was bowled out for 273 at SRMC. With paceman Laxmi Ratan Shukla striking, Districts, that had chosen to bat, was 26 for three at one stage before S. Vasanth Saravanan (74, 142b, 10 x 4) and R. Satish (50, 107b, 4 x 4, 1 x 6) added 118 for the fourth wicket in 34.5 overs. There were useful efforts too from Kishore V. Nath (32) and G. Vignesh (41), but Chatterjee's six for 84 meant CAB had done well. J. Arun Kumar was caught in the slip cordon off the very first delivery of the match, sent down by the Karnataka State CA (KSCA) paceman Venkatesh Prasad (three for 47), but a valuable hundred from No. 6 Rajat Bhatia (101, 124b, 6 x 4, 3 x 6), and half centuries from Ravneet Rickey (65, 152b, 4 x 4), Banish Sharma (53, 102b, 5 x 4, 2 x 6), and Pradeep Chawla (57 not out, 91b, 3 x 4) enabled Indian Airlines reach a respectable 328 for six in 90 overs at A.C. Tech. Ricky and Banish Sharma raised 104 in 35.2 overs for the second wicket, while Bhatia and Chawla put together 139 in 28.2 for the sixth. Airlines had elected to bat. MAC-TNCA XI paceman L. Balaji (three for 30 off 22 overs) and off-spinner D. Dandapani (four for 79) combined to bowl out ONGC, from whom opener Gagan Khoda top-scored with 57 (111b, 8 x 4, 1 x 5), for 270 in 89.3 overs. ONGC had won the toss at ICL-Guru Nanak. The scores: At SPIC-YMCA: MCA XI 215 in 86.2 overs (Sushant Manjrekar 26, Hrishikesh Shende 39, Pushkaraj Jadhav 35, S. Badrinath six for 80) vs TNCA president's XI three for no loss in one over. At SRMC: Combined Districts 273 in 88.5 overs (S. Vasanth Saravanan 74, R. Satish 50, Kishore V. Nath 32, G. Vignesh 41, Utpal Chatterjee six for 84) vs CAB. At A.C. Tech: Indian Airlines 328 for six in 90 overs (Ravneet Ricky 65, Banish Sharma 53, Rajat Bhatia 101, Pradeep Chawla 57 not out, Shafiq Khan 32, B.K. Venkatesh Prasad three for 47) vs KSCA. At ICL-Guru Nanak: ONGC 270 in 89.3 overs (Gagan Khoda 57, Manoj Mudgal 30, Sunil Joshi 29, L. Balaji three for 30, D. Dandapani four for 79) vs MAC-TNCA XI.
