Full-strength Australian team for Champions Trophy

MELBOURNE AUG. 22. Australia will send a full-strength team to next month's Champions Trophy in Sri Lanka after the players accepted an International Cricket Council contract on sponsorships for the tournament.

The Australian Cricket Board and the Australian Cricketers Association met on Thursday in Melbourne, in the southern Victoria state, and announced that the players and the national governing body would sign the participation agreement.

However, the players would only sign subject to the ICC consulting with them on sponsorship deals, ACA chief executive Tim May said.

ICC welcomes decision

The International Cricket Council welcomed Australia's decision to sign the commercial contract, set to clear the way for the team's participation in next month's ICC Champions Trophy in Sri Lanka.

Welcoming the breakthrough between the Australian Cricket Board (ACB) and the Australian Cricketers' Association (ACA), the ICC said the agreement will see a standard set of guidelines to clarify contractual obligations on the members of the ICC, the ACB and the ACA, including an approval and disputes resolution process.

``ICC management had worked with the ACB to develop and document the agreed guidelines and processes so that these could be implemented immediately,'' the statement quoted ICC President Malcolm Gray as saying.
