Letters to the Editor
Sir, The Board of Control for Cricket in India is at fault for having concealed the acceptance of the stipulation laid down by the International Cricket Council two years ago. It will be unfair on the part of the players to repudiate a pre-existing deal with their sponsors.
Vinoth,
Sir, The controversy over the ICC's new anti-ambush sponsorship agreement has put the coming Champions Trophy under threat, in terms of interest and viewership. The door is still open for resolving the imbroglio. Instead of the cricket boards engaging in a dialogue with players and the ICC separately, the ICC should call for a broadbased meeting of the boards of all countries together with the representatives of the players.
M.D. Ravikanth,
Sir, Some of the cricketers are refusing to play for India. This raises fundamental questions. Do they play for the country or for the sponsors? The performance of these players is also below par. One wonders if they are players-turned-models or models masquerading as players?
Rajinder Sandhir,
