Punish the guilty

Sir, — This refers to your Editorial `Cancellation and controversy' (Aug. 17). Cancellation was hardly the appropriate way in dealing with the string of dubious allotments of gas stations, LPG agencies and kerosene outlets and the same has led the Government to approach the Supreme Court for a common hearing. The petrol pump scam can be resolved by punishing those responsible for it.

Tadepalli Rammohan,
Cuddapah, A.P.

Sir, — The petrol pump issue, land scandal involving some of the BJP leaders and strained relationship with the Election Commission indicate that the BJP has achieved in five years, what the Congress had to work for 40 years to do. The BJP has become truly the inheritor of the Congress.

S.A. Srinivasa Sarma,
Hyderabad
