The sources said the Hurriyat leader has written to the Union Home Ministry to allow him to exercise his franchise and release those who had been imprisoned on ``false charges'' in Kashmir.
IG denies reports
Meanwhile, the Jharkhand Inspector General of Police (operation), R. C. Kaithan, today discounted press reports about attempts by the Kashmiri militants to blow up a part of a jail here to free Mr. Geelani. Referring to reports in the local media which quoted the senior Superintendent of Police, Niraj Sinha, as saying that he had information about some Kashmiris staying in a hotel here and recovery of 10 gelatine sticks and some wire from a room of a city hotel on Saturday, Mr. Kaithan said the number of gelatine sticks seized was very minimal which could not blow up a jail as big as Birsa Munda jail.
