Dalal's team progresses

CHENNAI AUG. 25. Dalal's team is the lone Indian side remaining in contention for the Rosenblum Cup, progressing to the round of 16 in the World bridge championship currently underway in Montreal.

Dalal's (Kiran Nadar's Formidables) beat Naftali from Israel 50-14, 19-44, 28-21, 41-21 while the other Indian team to have made the round of 32, Chennai's Kirubakaran's team, lost to Fredin of Sweden by eight IMPs.

Kirubakaran's took the lead with a 60-21 score in the first set, but the opposition came right back, winning the next two at 49-30 and 61-12. The Indians scored 40-19 in the next, but it wasn't enough.

Dalal's meets Munawar from Indonesia, the only other Asian team remaining in the fray.
