SC permits Bharat Shah to go abroad

By Our Legal Correspondent

NEW DELHI AUG. 26. The Supreme Court today permitted the diamond merchant and film financier, Bharat Shah, to go to Belgium for seven days on condition that he should furnish a security of Rs. 50 crores. A Bench, comprising Justice M.B. Shah and Justice B.P Singh, passed the order on Mr. Shah's application seeking permission to go to Belgium to attend the marriage of his younger brother's son and daughter.

As Mr. Shah's passport had been impounded on his arrest under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crimes Act, the Bench directed release of passport and other documents.
