Jammu & Kashmir
By Our Special Correspondent
The Congress chief spokesman, S. Jaipal Reddy, questioned the rationale behind the alliance with a front that was in favour of trifurcation of the State despite the Deputy Prime Minister's rejection of such a move on the premise that it was against the national interest. On the Congress stand on trifurcation, Mr. Reddy said: ``We recognise the regional problem in J&K and the need to evolve institutional instrumentalities for maximum devolution of powers among the various regions of the State. We do not think the solution for the problem of regional disparities lies in redrawing the geographical borders within the State.''
