Border replaces Buchanan

Sydney Aug. 26. Former Australian cricket captain Allan Border will replace John Buchanan as the national team coach for the triangular one-day series in Nairobi, Kenya.

Border, the Australia `A' coach and a national selector, was called up after Buchanan suffered a back injury during the team's training camp in Brisbane at the weekend.

Buchanan suffered an acute episode of lower back pain at the end of a net session during the team's final practice at the Allan Border Field. He is expected to recover within ten days and will rejoin the national one-day squad ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy in Sri Lanka starting September 12.

Border, who was due to travel to Johannesburg tomorrow with Australia `A' team for their seven-game series against South Africa `A', will now fly to Nairobi with the national squad on the same day. — PTI
