The final will be played at the ICL-Guru Nanak ground from August 28 to 30. The semifinal turned out to be a memorable outing for MAC-TNCA skipper S. Suresh, who followed his first innings 109, by remaining unbeaten on 142 (132b, 12x4) in the second. His opening partner Anand George (115, 108b, 12x4, 1x6, 1x5) also made a strokeful hundred. In the other game, Indian Airlines was well served by left-arm spinner Sonu Sharma, who prised out five TNCA President's XI batsmen. At ICL-Guru Nanak, openers Suresh and George, continuing from where they left on Sunday, raised 218 in 33 overs. S. Sriram then contributed a 29-ball 28, and MAC-TNCA XI reached an imposing 314 for two in 45 overs, leaving Districts to make 341 for victory. Districts was never likely to pull off a win, although No. 4 R. Satish's brilliant 83 (82b, 8x4, 4x6) and his 70-run fifth-wicket stand in just 7.3 overs with Vasanth Saravanan (29), provided an anxious moment or two to the MAC-TNCA side. In fact, Districts appeared on course at 193 for four in 26.2 overs when Saravanan was run out off a Hemang Badani throw from fine leg. MAC-TNCA then had things well under control after that stage. T. Dushyanth (37) and Petson Matthews (32) put together an unbroken 69 for the eighth wicket in 16.2 overs, but Districts was always going to end up well short of the target. Yet, its score of 267 for seven in 45 overs was a creditable effort. Districts is a young side and has performed well in this tournament. At SPIC-YMCA, TNCA President's XI had to achieve a daunting 365 in 45 overs after Indian Airlines got to 236 for five in its second innings. Ravneet Ricky (48, 72b, 6x4) and Munish Sharma (83, 113b, 7x4, 1x6) tallied 96 in 22.1 overs for the first wicket, and R.R. Parida (39 not out) and Shafiq Khan (23 not out) gathered a hectic unbeaten 62 in 7.5 overs for the sixth enabling their side to finish strongly. S. Badrinath, sending down off-spin, made an impression again, claiming three wickets, while left-arm spinner Vidyut Sivaramakrishnan, picking up two more, took his match tally to seven. TNCA President's XI made a brave bid before being all out for 241 in 34.5 overs, but then the side had conceded far too much ground in the first innings. Aaditya Srikkanth (27) and S. Badrinath (69, 54b, 6x4, 1x6) put on a quick 54 in 8.2 overs for the second wicket and the latter then added 57 in 9.2 with C. Hemant Kumar (34) for the third. However, with left-arm spinner Sonu Sharma (five for 103) striking at regular intervals and off-spinner Ishan Ganda picking up wickets towards the end, TNCA President's XI lost comprehensively. The scores (semifinals): At ICL-Guru Nanak: MAC-TNCA XI 234 and 314 for two in 45 overs (Anand George 115, S. Suresh 142 not out, S. Sriram 28) bt Combined Districts 208 and 267 for seven in 45 overs (Dilip Sarathy 27, R. Satish 83, T. Dushyanth 37, Petson Matthews 32). At SPIC-YMCA: Indian Airlines 366 and 236 for five in 45 overs (Ravneet Ricky 48, Munish Sharma 83, R.R. Parida 39 not out, S. Badrinath three for 44) bt TNCA President's XI 238 and 241 in 34.5 overs (Aaditya Srikkanth 27, S. Badrinath 69, C. Hemant Kumar 34, Sonu Sharma five for 103).
