Election set aside

KATANI AUG. 29 . A local court today set aside the election of Kamla Jaan, a eunuch, as Mayor of Katni, on the ground that the post was reserved for women.

The Additional District Judge, Virendra Singh, held as null and void the Mayoral election conducted in the late 1999 by Katni municipal corporation and set aside the election of Kamla as the post was reserved for women.
