The demonstrators took out a procession from the Ramanna Shetty Park to the Deputy Commissioner's Office where they presented a memorandum demanding, among other things, the implementation of the recommendations of the Arkesh Report on the measures to be taken to nab the forest brigand, adequate protection to Kannadigas who were in the threat list of Veerappan, deployment of paramilitary forces to nab Veerappan, and arranging for negotiations with Veerappan in a bid to get Mr. Nagappa released. The demonstrators formed a "human circle" at the Gopi Circle as part of their demonstration where they burnt an effigy of Veerappan. Those who led the procession included the President of the district unit of the Janata Dal (United), V.Raju, the President of the Jagrutha Horata Vedike, Nagaraj. Addressing a public meeting, the speakers urged the Government to take steps to ensure the safe return of Mr. Nagappa.
